The Bible explains the differences between the peace that God offers versus the peace we can find in the world or in our own strength. They are quite different. The peace we find most prevalent in the world depends on having (omit word) circumstances go our way. Everything looks like it’s going well, so you have peace. But if circumstances change and the going gets rough, peace is quickly replaced with fear, anxiety and trepidation. The peace of God is not about outward circumstances but an inward condition of the heart and mind.
When you understand how to access the peace of God, you discover that His peace in you makes more of His power available to you. Genuine peace is a realm where chaos is not permitted to enter. When we have His peace, we have the ability and power to control our thinking and our speech and to respond peacefully, even when confronted with adversity. Sometimes this power enables us to hold our tongue, to speak fewer words or to remain silent.
Emotions were never meant to be our guidance system. If emotions master us, we will never have stability. Peace is like a sanctuary. Jesus said, “My peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27
In other words, God wants you to have His better brand of peace which is far superior than what the world has to offer.
