WHEN YOU LOOK IN THE MIRROR, WHAT DO YOU SEE?

Ever go to a carnival and look into one of those distorted mirrors, you know, the ones that make you look three feet tall and five feet wide? The image of yourself that you see back is distorted. It can produce a good laugh. But many of us struggle with a similar condition – we don’t see ourselves accurately. We are hindered from being the best version of ourselves, the version God intended. We are prevented by this insidious thing called iniquity.

Iniquity is mentioned 334 times in the Bible, yet so many remain oblivious to its significant and negative impact on everyday living. Iniquity is the ancient term for narcissism. It’s what turned a good angel, Lucifer, into the devil… “thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee” (Ezekiel 28:15). It’s one of the four reason Jesus went to the cross… “He was bruised for our iniquities” (Isaiah 53:5). It’s why Jesus was sent… “to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities” (Acts 3:26). As you journey through the pages of this book you will not only identify the problems iniquity imposes upon us, but you will also discover the solutions.

This book will help you discover:
  • How iniquity contributes to mental illness
  • How iniquity causes divorce and destroys households
  • How conquering iniquity will cause your prayer life to flourish
  • How you can finally live without fear and regret
  • How to embrace the benefits that come from being free from iniquity and the way it robs you of your God-given potential!
  • How iniquity is different from sin

“Iniquity” was something I saw in the Bible, something I committed, but not something I fully understood until I read How You See Yourself. This amazing book reveals the very thing that caused Satan to sin…and few know what it is. Every minister and every believer should discover “Satan’s best kept secret.” I read, repented, and rejoiced not only once, but several times. A challenging, enlightening, and encountering book.

How You See Yourself is nothing short of life–changing! The eye-opening scriptural truths that Pastor David Johnston reveals concerning the subject of iniquity carries a depth of spiritual revelation not readily found in Christians today. This book serves as a biblical roadmap for anyone who wants to be set free from the bondage of self-rule and narcissism. And who wouldn’t want that?!

  3. Jeana T

In the world of “the written page” where many pieces are a woeful regurgitation of the hard-earned insight of others, Pastor David Johnston stands as an authentic vessel. He is not an echo. He is a VOICE! How You See Yourself is a detailed, impactful Christian message, the result of over two decades of teaching, for the seeking soul.

This is the first in-depth study of iniquity I have ever read. It is profound and has enabled me to understand with clarity certain behaviors, their origins, and how to deal with them from a biblical perspective. In some cases I now understand my own responses and know how to correct them in my own life.

This is a great read. I hope others get as much out of it as I have already. Thanks, Pastor David, for your insights and for sharing them with us.

This is by far the best book on Christianity I have ever read. The word “iniquity” is ignored, glossed over, and treated like a dirty word in church. Learn the truth and receive the benefits promised by God when we give up our selfish ways!

The author does a masterful job teaching this unpleasant subject in a way that is enlightening, but without condemnation. A must read for any follower of Jesus Christ!

David Johnston has gifted Christianity with a well written insight on iniquity and how it plays a role in self-identity verses God-identity. Whether you see yourself as a strong Christian or someone who just can’t meet up with Biblical standards of living, this book will help you see how God looks at the heart of man and defines the ultimate love He has for his creation…YOU!

As I read David L. Johnston’s book, How You See Yourself, I realized that I thought iniquity and sin were more or less equal, and interchangeable, not realizing they are two very distinct concepts. Starting with an in-depth explanation of the difference between sin and iniquity, Johnston exposes the origin of iniquity-Satan, also known as Lucifer. He continues chapter-by-chapter to describe the effects of iniquity in our lives and how it separates us from God, just as it separated and separates Satan from Him, too.

I’ve never read a more thorough, all-encompassing book on how iniquity impacts every part of our lives, including how familial iniquities are passed down through the centuries and harm future generations.

  9. Faithe T

When I started reading this book, I thought it was going to be heavy on the “man’s failure” perspective, but David Johnston is actually pretty heavy on the “God is love” perspective. Seeing yourself from the correct biblical perspective is what this book is all about. Well done.

Do you know the difference between sin and iniquity? This book will open your eyes to this vital difference and the difference it will make in your life. Every Christian should read this book and understand this difference. This teaching has totally changed my walk with the Lord. I heartily recommend this book to all serious Christians.

INIQUITY Book – This is by far the best book on Christianity I have ever read. The word “iniquity” is ignored, glossed over and treated like a dirty word in church. Learn the truth and receive the benefits promised by God when we give up our selfish ways!!!!!!
