Ever walk on a tightrope? Ever imagine what that might be like?
The truth is that you already have. You were born into it from your first breath. From birth, we
have each had to deal with the failings of our flesh. One of them puts us on that tightrope daily.
That one is our pride.
Because of pride, we teeter between peace and destruction.
This lesson is the second of a three-part series on pride. It began with “The Destructiveness of
Pride” and ends with the next one: “How to Recover from the Destructions of the Pride of
Others.” So please take the time to listen to all three, as pride is a big issue for every human
being.
Pride is one of the three primary evils that mankind is subject to as a result of the fall, so we
definitely need to pay attention to it.
This teaching starts by defining pride to help us begin to identify it when we look in the mirror.
Recognizing it is our first step. This is followed by the biblical pathway God has put in place to
defeat this powerful enemy. This pathway is the key to walking joyfully in the Lord as we are
meant to do.
“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do
justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” (Micah 6:8)
